Home remedies for Tinnitus

An Overview

Almost everyone at one time or another has experienced brief periods of mild ringing or other sounds in the ear. This is known as tinnitus. Tinnitus means sizzling or ringing sounds in the ears, which can be constant or intermittent. It can occur in one or both ears. The sound can be very soft or very loud, and high-pitched or low-pitched. Some people hear it in one ear and others hear it in both. People with severe tinnitus may have problems hearing, working or sleeping. Tinnitus is not a disease it’s a symptom.

It’s a sign that something is wrong with your auditory system, which includes your ear, the auditory nerve that connects the inner ear to the brain, and the parts of the brain that process sound. On the surface of the hearing cells are very small hairs. If in normal condition, the hairs will move under the pressure of the sound waves from the outside. This movement causes the auditory cells to emit a stream of electrical energy to the auditory nerve fibers and these signals are transmitted to the brain. The brain analyzes these signals and realizes that these are sounds. That means we can hear normally.

It may be caused by age-related hearing loss, an ear injury or infection, exposure to loud noise, high altitudes, upper respiratory infections, earwax blockage, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, ear bone changes (abnormal bone growth), , or diseases like high or low blood pressure, diabetes or a circulatory system disorder.

Types of Tinnitus

This annoying condition can interfere with daily activities and cause difficulty hearing, working, concentrating and sleeping.
There are two types of tinnitus:

Objective Tinnitus or Tinnitus Aurium

This type of tinnitus is rare, usually caused by vascular or neurological disorders, tumors in the head, neck, or brain, or defects of some ear structures. Tinnitus can feel like a pulse or can be in sync with the heartbeat. If tinnitus occurs accompanied by a condition in which the pulse of the vein coincides with the heartbeat, you need to be diagnosed by a specialist as soon as possible because this can be a symptom of a serious disease.
