Oily scalp and hair are pretty common. It is just the natural oil (sebum) that protects and nourishes your hair. But, an abnormally oily scalp can be a problem. It makes your hair feel sweaty, greasy, and dirty all the time, no matter how often you wash your hair. The oily scalp makes your hair look like it is wet and causes your hair not to float. It is difficult to style hair for people with oily scalp, right? In fact, these things make people with oily scalp often feel uncomfortable and not confident. There are many causes of this condition. But whatever the cause, it’s still very important to treat it. To overcome this condition, many people come to the hair salon to recover their scalp and hair.

1. Tea tree oil:

This remedy is especially helpful for those who have a greasy scalp because of dandruff. A research study shows that the application of the antimicrobial tea tree oil to your scalp can control the greasiness and itchiness caused by dandruff.

2. Lemon And Yogurt

Prepare 1 tablespoon of yogurt and 1 lemon.
Mix them well and apply the mixture to the hair and incubate.
Rinse after 15 minutes with cool water.
Follow it twice a week for the best results.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

The presence of acetic acid in apple cider vinegar imparts pH-balancing properties to it. Its acidity can balance the pH level of your scalp (2). Since oily hair has a low pH, rinsing it with ACV may restore its pH balance and control the secretion of excess oil on your scalp.

4. Wash more often

People with really oily hair may need to shampoo up to once a day, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Shampoo helps to remove excess oil as well as debris and leftover hair products from the scalp.

5. Coconut Oil

Applying coconut oil prior to shampooing is a great way to condition your hair without making it greasy. Virgin coconut oil is light and has a lower molecular weight compared to many other oils, which helps give your hair the required shine (3). Thus, it may also help prevent excess sebum production.

6. Shampoo properly

It doesn’t seem like rocket science, but yes, you can wash your hair incorrectly and end up with an oily scalp and damaged hair.
To properly wash your hair, gently work a small amount of shampoo into your roots and scalp. Avoid using your nails or creating unnecessary friction on the strands. Aggressive scrubbing can irritate your scalp and cause it to produce more oils.

7. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera exhibits significant astringent and nourishing properties due to its nutrient-rich composition (4). Thus, it may help control sebum secretion and make your hair soft.

8. Use products formulated for oily hair

A lot of thought and research has gone into making hair care products live up to their hype. If your shampoo isn’t cutting it, try a clarifying shampoo that has stronger detergents. This can help lift oil and leave your hair grease-free.
However, if you love sweaty workouts or find you need to wash daily, a mild baby shampoo can be less irritating and better suited for frequent use.

9. Clean your brush

A dirty brush has no place with freshly washed hair. Your brush can be full of styling products, oils, and general gunk that can make your locks dirty immediately after washing.
Clean up your styling tools with a bit of shampoo or gentle soap to strip off the buildup. Likewise, clean out all of the loose hair after each brushing to keep your brush free of oil and dirt.

10. Conditioning

For conditioning your hair and scalp, you can add an amount of tea liquor or cider vinegar or lemon juice to the final water rinse. This way helps you condition your scalp and hair and then release your scalp from oils and dandruff.

11. Epsom Salt

Epsom salt is a rich source of magnesium. Magnesium may help reduce scalp inflammation and absorb the excess sebum secreted by your scalp.

12. Egg and lemon juice

• This remedy is very good for people with oily hair and scalp. Here are some easy steps you can follow:
• You take two eggs and then you separate the yolk.
• You squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into this yolk bowl and you mix properly.
• You spread the mixture onto your scalp after washing it.
• You wait for about 15 minutes
• Then you rinse with the lukewarm water.

13. Baking soda

• This remedy can remove the oil and dandruff from the scalp as well as condition your hair.
• ou prepare a baking soda paste just by adding 3 tablespoons of baking soda to a little of water.
• You massage this baking soda paste onto your scalp for a few minutes.
• You massage carefully and avoid breaking the hair shaft and the hair roots.
• You massage for about 5 to 6 minutes and then you let it settle down.
• You wait for about 15 minutes
• Then you rinse off with water
• You shampoo your scalp & hair after that as needed.

14. Black tea

Black tea has tannic acid, which helps fight the oil of your scalp. It also contains astringent, which helps tighten the pores.
• You just need to add two tablespoons of black tea into a large bowl of boiling water.
• You strain the black tea leaves off after boiling them for about 10 minutes.
• You let the black tea water cool down.
• Then you spread it onto your hair roots & scalp.
• You wait for about 5 minutes
• Then you rinse it off.
• You shampoo the hair & scalp.

15. Argan Oil

Massaging argan oil into your scalp and hair can redistribute the sebum to your hair shafts and keep them moisturized, thus regulating the secretion of sebum and stimulating blood circulation (7). However, there is limited data on how it benefits oily hair.
