Foot pain is a painful condition along the front or inside of the leg. The muscles, tendons and tissue bones become overworked by increased activity. The foot is the foundation of our standing and support as it connects us to the ground. Your feet act as cushions, absorbing pressure and transmitting the weight of your body to the ground as it stands upright against the force of gravity. Foot pain is a common ailment that can affect all age groups and encompass the entire foot from its proximal to a distal end that includes the toes, sole, heel and ankle. Foot pain is a common phenomenon that most people experience in their daily lives. This is a common symptom of over-mobility or high-intensity exercise. Because the foot is subjected to a great deal of pressure from the gravity of the body so when the foot pain occurs, the patient will encounter a lot of trouble. Factors that could contribute to having foot pain include aging, standing or walking for a long period, trauma, injury, wearing ill-fitted shoes, foot deformity and being overweight.

Natural Remedies for Foot pain

  1. Physical Activities:

Among home remedies for foot pain, physical activities are one of the most effective. Exercise may reduce foot pain by reducing stress, helping you lose weight and increasing blood flow. You can use massage cream for the foot massage. Place the thumb on the tip of your foot and index finger on the heel, massage the foot clockwise from the toe to the heel and the ankle. Then do the opposite clockwise.

  1. Massage your sore feet:

To make a stimulating massage oil to soothe foot pain, combine 3 drops clove oil with 3 tablespoons sesame oil. Mix the ingredients well and massage the oils into your aching feet. Other tried-and-true foot-rub recipe calls for 3 drops lavender oil, 1 drop camomile oil and 1 drop geranium oil mixed into 2 teaspoons olive oil.

  1. Cold water:

Cold water reduces inflammation and increases the blood flow on the problem area. Moreover, it repairs the damaged ligaments and numbs the nerve endings reducing injury pain. There are many ways to soak your foot to relieve foot pain. Each way has a different mechanism.

  1. Pull the Towel:

While sitting, place one leg on the coffee table or couch in front of your feet straight, Round a towel or T-shirt around the foot, clenching both ends with both hands, Gently pull it toward you so that your calves and heels stretch. Hold for 15 seconds then relax, change legs.

  1. Cayenne pepper:

Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin which helps to relieve muscle aches, arthritis, muscle strain and pain. If your foot aches when it gets cold, try to sprinkle some pepper in your socks and then put them on. Alternatively, you can pour two teaspoons of powdered pepper in a bucket of water, stir well and soak your feet for 10-15 minutes. Another way is mixing some cayenne powder with some warm olive oil. Spread the mixture on the painful area and allow it to stay for 30 minutes before washing off.

   6. Honey:

Honey contains a variety of antioxidants that help kill free radicals caused by ultraviolet rays or the aging process of the body. Honey contains many nutrients such as magnesium, potassium and calcium. Consume 3-4 teaspoons of honey in the morning every day as a treatment of foot pain.

  1. Arnica:

Arnica is packed with therapeutic, medicinal and culinary properties. It’s used by many athletes to alleviate sprains, bruises and aching feet. Just soak your feet in arnica tincture for 10 minutes and pat dry. This herb should not be applied on broken skin or taken orally.

    8. Epsom Salt:

Epsom salt also called magnesium sulfate may provide us with many health benefits and beauty. Magnesium relieves muscle pain and reduces inflammation, supporting nerve function by regulating electrolytes. Mix 3 tablespoons of Epsom salts in a warm bath in a small tub.

  • Soak your feet in it for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Then, dry your legs and apply some moisturizers.
  • Gently massage your heels for 5 minutes.
  • Repeat 2 or 3 times a week until the pain is gone completely
  1. Peppermint Oil:

Peppermint oil has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antispasmodic properties which help to relieve pain. Due to its high menthol content, it promotes more blood flow to the affected region. Not only that, peppermint oil relieves muscle spasms and reduces soreness in the feet.

  1. Cinnamon:

To make a footbath, put one teaspoon of cinnamon powder in a basin of warm water and soak your feet for 15-20 minutes. Cinnamon is also effective in alleviating foot numbness.

  1. Turmeric:

Turmeric contains a main active ingredient called curcumin. Using turmeric as a treatment of foot pain is very effective thanks to its anti-inflammation.

  1. Clove Oil:

If you have foot pain, clove oil can provide some temporary relief. Clove oil helps to increase blood circulation in the problem area. For aching feet, combine a few drops of clove oil with sesame oil and gently massage the affected region. Make sure you dilute the oil with other carrier oils such as coconut oil or sesame oil.

  1. Wear shoe Inserts:

Shoe inserts or orthotics, help relieve foot pain caused by flat feet or fallen arches. They’re available at medical-supply stores or from a podiatrist. And you can also scatter a few pencils on the floor and pick them up with your toes. This little exercise helps relieve foot ache.

  1. Baking Soda:

This popular cleaning agent can help to relieve pain from your feet after a long day of walking, working, or hiking. You can also make a paste by mixing one spoonful of baking soda with some water and spread the paste on the painful area. Wash off after 20-30 minutes.

If the discomfort you feel stems simply from fatigue or poorly fitting shoes, your best friend may be water warm or cold, with or without herbal extras or an invigorating foot massage.   Also, choose shoes that fit well. You should have a thumb’s width between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. Shoes should be wide enough so that your toes and the balls of your feet aren’t cramped from side to side.
