What is Dandruff  

     Dandruff also called Seborrhoea, targets the scalps of many people, young and old.  It can occur due to dry skin, irritated oily skin, growth of bacteria and fungus on the scalp, inflammatory skin conditions and other such factors. What’s more, it leads to other skin issues like pimples acne and itchiness along with excessive formation of dry skin flakes on the scalp. Before we can discuss how to cure dandruff, let’s understand what causes it. Home remedies for Dandruff:

  • Coconut oil nourishes your hair, while lemon juice helps to treat dandruff at home without using harmful chemicals.
  • The antibacterial properties of Indian lilac, also known as neem, help treat dandruff as well as other hair problems like scalp acne, itchy scalp and hair fall efficiently. Apply Neem leaves paste on your scalp and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. Wash it off with water.
  • Soak some fenugreek or methi seeds in water overnight, Drain the leftover water and mash the softened seeds into a paste. Let the paste sit for about an hour. Rinse it off with a mild shampoo.
  • Coconut oil helps eliminate dandruff due to its antifungal properties. It also moisturizes dry scalp and provides relief from itching.
  • Treating dandruff at home with curd is a little messy but very effective. Apply some curd to your hair and scalp, Let it sit tight for about an hour and Rinse it off with a shampoo that’s mild.
  • Soap nuts can keep one’s hair strong and long. To use it for treating dandruff.
  • White vinegar is one of the best home treatments for dandruff. Vinegar has acetic acid that prevents growth of fungi on your scalp and relieves itching.
  • Dandruff treatment can be carried out at home with baking soda as well. Wet your hair slight, Keeping your hair wet, rub a spoonful of baking soda on your scalp. Leave it on for 1 or 2 minutes prior to washing it off.
  • Just use Listerine to rinse your hair once a week.
  • Heat some extra virgin olive oil until it is slightly warm. Massage it onto your scalp and then wrap your hair in a warm towel.
  • Tea tree oil is another way to cure dandruff at home. Simply add a few drops of tea tree oil to your regular shampoo when you wash your hair. Add one drop of this essential oil per ounce of shampoo.

  • Apple cider vinegar is one of the best home remedies for dandruff and hair fall. It restores the pH balance of the scalp thereby inhibiting the growth of yeast.
  • Make a cup of green tea and add a few drops of peppermint essential oil, add a teaspoon of white vinegar in it and mix well,Let it cool and apply on wet hairs.
  • Lemon juice contains acids that fight the fungi that can cause dandruff. Apply it on your hair and scalp. Leave it on for about 20 minutes before rinsing it off and shampooing your hair.

  • Apply Egg yolk paste on your scalp, and then leave it on 30 minutes and wash off, It is necessary to rinse your hair thoroughly as this egg stinks.
  • Aspirin contains salicylic acid that can help control dandruff by exfoliating your scalp. Crush two aspirins to a fine powder and mix it with a blob of shampoo. Wash your hair with the mixture, massaging it onto your scalp.
  • Baking soda is known as a mild exfoliate that can help you remove your dead skin cells& absorb the excess oil.
  • Orange peel is another dandruff remedy that can be tried at home. Apply this paste on your scalp and let it sit for 30 minutes before washing it off with a mild shampoo.
  • Pound a clove or two of garlic and after mixing with water, use it on your scalp to see quick results.
  • Not only is aloe vera cooling but also mildly exfoliates the skin and has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. It can be applied in the scalp and then washed off with a medicated anti-dandruff or mild shampoo.
  • Leave a Yogurt for a day for its fermentation. Apply the yogurt on your scalp and make sure it gets deeply inside your scalp.
  • Sea salt is also best home remedy for Dandruff.
  • The mixture of yogurt and pepper is one of the excellent home remedies for dandruff.
  • Add apple juice (two tablespoons) to an equal amount of water and then apply onto your scalp.
  • Basil leaves are one of the excellent home remedies for dandruff. They improve the strength of the scalp and help treat dandruff.
  • Beetroot is also another cure for dandruff. To apply beetroot in the correct way for treating dandruff.
  • Make a paste of gram flour (4 tablespoons) and curd (4 tablespoons), Apply it on your scalp and wait for an hour. Then wash off.
  • Using honey is also one of the popular and easy home remedies for dandruff.
