Lycopene is an antioxidant which gives bright red color to tomatoes. Since V8 is made from vegetables hence it is a rich source of vitamin A and C. Vitamin A is fat soluble vitamin. It is beneficial for good vision besides promoting healthy skin. Vitamin C enhances healthy immunity besides several other health benefits. V8 contains beet juice. When you drink V8 vegetable juice, you don’t consume as much fiber as you do when you eat whole vegetables.3 For example, a tomato (1.5 grams of fiber),4 a cup of beets (3.8 grams),5 and a stalk of celery(0.6 grams of fiber)6 would give you about 6 total grams of fiber.

2. Source of Lycopene:

V8 is rich in lycopene by virtue of the fact that tomatoes make part of the 8 juices blend. Lycopene is an anti-oxidant that is a bright red carotene pigment and phytochemical usually found in tomatoes. It is responsible for the e bright red color in ripe tomatoes. Lycopene neutralizes the harmful effects of free radicals. Free radicals cause various chronic diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

3. May Protect Against Heart Disease:

There is some evidence that lycopene, a nutrient high in antioxidants and the pigment that gives tomatoes their bright red hue, could help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Celery in the v8 vegetable juice provides a good source of potassium. Of importance here is not the amount of potassium in celery but the role it plays a diuretic. It maintains safe levels of both potassium and sodium without necessarily changing blood ratio.

8. Promotes Eye Health:

Beta carotene—a carotenoid found in spinach, carrots, and subsequently, in V8 juice—is the precursor to vitamin A, which plays an important role in eye health. Our eyes also contain the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, which help prevent eye diseases and sustain eye health.

9. Alpha and Beta-carotene in Carrots:

As one of the constituents of V8, carrots supply you with anti-oxidants alpha and beta-carotene when you consume v8 vegetable juice. These two are provitamin A carotenoids, which are changed to vitamin A (retinol) when needed by the body. The vitamin A or retinol is important for visual acuity. Deficiency in this vitamin could cause blindness, hence very important in the diet. Which could lead to blindness. These two anti-oxidants also promote a healthy immune system as well as destroy harmful micro-organisms that cause diseases in the body.

If you have hypertension, you may want to consider adding this vegetable juice to your daily routine because it may help reduce your blood pressure. This study involved 86 men and women who were followed for 12 weeks. Everyone was told to follow the Dash diet, a clinically proven eating program for controlling high blood pressure.

11. Raises Nitric oxide:

Nitric oxide is a substance made inside our blood vessels. It relaxes blood vessels, lowers blood pressure and helps blood move through the body. This nitric oxide boosting effect may be due to the potassium in the Juice and is likely why it appears to lower blood pressure in some people. This study did not use Campbell’s vegetable juice but it stands to reason any quality made vegetable juice would have similar effects.

Disadvantages Of Drinking V8 Juice

Drinking V8 juice is not bad as against drinking non nutritive sodas and other beverages. But it does have some drawbacks.
• It contains less amount of fiber as that of original vegetables. This is because while processing large amount of fiber is removed from the vegetable to extract juice. Fiber is important substance for gastrointestinal tract because it keeps you full for a longer time. It also regulates blood sugar level and prevents excess hunger which results in weight gain.
• Fiber present in raw or cooked vegetables prevents constipation.
• One report details kidney failure in a man who went on a 6 week juic fast juicing his own vegetables. His kidney failure was attributed to the high amounts of oxalate contained in the foods he was consuming. This report is not relevant to V8 Juice because he was juicing different foods.
