     Coriander is a plant. People use the seed for medicine.Coriander is commonly known as ‘dhaniya’ in the Indian Subcontinent and cilantro in America and some parts of Europe. It is an herb that is extensively used around the world as a condiment, garnish or decoration on culinary dishes. Coriander leaves are often used whole, whereas the seeds are used dried or ground. To prevent confusion, this article refers to the specific parts of the Coriandrum sativum plant. Coriander is a fragrant, antioxidant-rich herb that has many culinary uses and health benefits.

     It may help lower your blood sugar, fight infections and promote heart, brain, skin and digestive health. In manufacturing, coriander is used as a flavoring agent in medicines and tobacco and as a fragrance in cosmetics and soaps. A 100 gm of coriander has 3.6 gm of carbohydrate, 2.08 gm of protein, 2.50 mg vitamin E, 27 mg vitamin C, 310 mg vitamin K, 055 mg pantothenic acid and more.

One rat study noted that it increased appetite, compared with control rats given water or nothing.

Soak coriander seeds overnight in water and consume next morning for maximum benefits.
