   Cashews are nutritionally dense nuts belonging to the family of Anacardiaceous. Cashew nuts are the seeds of the fruit of the cashew tree, which is native to Brazil. This family also includes mangoes and pistachios. Cashews are originally native to the coastal areas of north-eastern Brazil. They are kidney-shaped seeds widely cultivated in places that have tropical climates.

    A popular ingredient finding its way into many Indian types of gravy, cashew – a plant originating from Brazil is a nut high in minerals. The nut and the fruit, both have multiple uses. The nut, often known as the poor man’s plantation although now it is sold for steep prices is used to make delectable and rich curries and also roasted and eaten dry.

    The kidney shaped or bean shaped nuts have many health benefits, a few of which are presented below. Cashews are rich in Vitamins C, E, K, phosphorous, iron, magnesium and zinc and also contain antioxidants, photochemical and protein.

1. May prevent Cancer:

    Cashews contain anacardic acid and inositol two important compounds that may help prevent colon cancer. Antioxidants like anacardic acids, cardinals and carols which cashews contain – make this nut effective for people undergoing treatments for tumor and cancer eradication.  In addition to this, cashews are a good source of copper, which help remove free radicals from the body.

2.  Heart Health:

    That nuts are likely to be beneficial for health keeping a check on various ailments such as heart disease,  Cashews help lower LDL and increase the carrying capacity for HDL. HDL is responsible to absorb the cholesterol from the heart and take it to the liver where it can be broken down.
